Jerry Butler, I stand accused

Jerry Butler sang with gospel group the Northern Jubilee Gospel Singers, with his friend Curtis Mayfield, and they formed The Impressions in the late 1950s. Butler left The Impressions to set up his solo career with Vee Jay Records of Chicago. “I stand accused” is one of a string of hits for that label, and was released in 1964. UK Sue issued the recording in 1966. Jerry Butler is now active in politics.
