Issued on Sue WI 373. Cecil James McNeely was born on April 29, 1927 and first came to attention playing with the Johnny Otis band. At the time of writing he is still performing and recording.

Recorded in 1959, “There is something on your mind” was Billboard Pop No. 42 and R&B No. 2 in 1959.

The vocals are credited to “Little Sonny”. There were a number of singers known as Little Sonny, but on this recording the vocal is thought to be by blues singer and friend of McNeely, Haywood S. Warner (Little Sonny Warner), who was born on October 30, 1930 and died on April 12, 2007. Warner is closely associated also with James Brown, Etta James and B.B. King.
