Jimmy Johnson was born on 23rd February, 1926. Earlier information that this record is by the brother of singer Syl Johnson is now regarded as incorrect. The vocalist on the record however is Hank Alexander, for whom no information can be found. Can anyone help, please? Sue UK licenced this recording from the Magnum label and released the single on WI 387.

Inez and Charlie Foxx, Mockingbird/He’s the one you love

Brother and sister Inez and Charlie had the first release on the UK Sue label just before touring the UK with a great show. The record remains an R&B/Soul classic. Mockingbird was recorded in 1963. The record has been released a number of times on other labels in the UK.

The Shades of Blue, Oh how happy/Little orphan boy

Recorded in Detroit in the spring of 1966, and the groups biggest success. The group line up on the recording is understood to be Nick Marinelli, Ernie Dernai, Linda Allen, and Bob Kerr. The Shades of Blue are still performing, but the original line up disbanded around 1970. Nick Marinelli also recorded with the Motown group The Valadiers.
