Roy Milton | Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame | 14658

Roy Milton was born on July 31, 1907 and died on September 18, 1983. He was a singer and band leader. He is associated with Johnny Otis. His recording of Early in the Morning/Bless your heart was issued on WI 4021; he recorded it a number of times and the Sue release is thought to be the Warwick label re-recording dating from 1960. The Sue label incorrectly states that the artist is Little Milton. Can anyone confirm whether the videos are of the correct versions, please? Thank you.

  1. Hi Just to point out that this release was not actually by Little Milton but was by Roy Milton and was first released on the Warwick label in 1961.

  2. Hi Paul – I’ve posted the Warwick 45 rpm version of this disc on Be Bop Wino and also linked in to the original 1953 Specialty version on YouTube. Little Milton? What were they thinking about!?
