Lightnin’ Hopkins – Wonder what is wrong with me


Sam John Hopkins was born on March 15, 1912 and died on January 30, 1982. He was inspired by Blind Lemon Jefferson, whom he accompanied. He is also associated with his cousin Frankie Lee Sims. In 1960 he was invited to appear at New York’s Carnegie Hall with Peter, Paul and Mary and others. In a long career spanning almost 50 years Hopkins recorded more albums than any other bluesman. “Wonder what is wrong with me” was issued in the UK on Sue ILP 921 “We sing the blues”.
