Sam Myers was born on February 19, 1936 and died on July 17, 2006 of cancer. A singer songwriter of considerable quality who became blind in childhood, he is also known to have been Elmore James’ drummer. “Sleeping in the ground” is his signature song. “Sleeping in the ground”, recorded in 1956, was released in the UK on Sue ILP 921 “We sing the blues”.
