Owen Grey was born on 5 July 1939 and is regarded as a pioneer of Jamaican popular music. He became associated with Chris Blackwell in 1960. Since the 1980s he has lived in Miami, Florida.

Successful soul singer Joe Simon was born on September 2, 1943 and is still involved in music. “Say” was first released in 1964 on the famed Vee Jay label. The track was released in the UK on Sue LP ILP 943 “Dr Soul”.

The Impressions – Believe in me

The Impressions formed in 1958 with the original line up of Sam Gooden, Richard Brooks and Arthur Brooks, Jerry Butler and Curtis Mayfield. Richard and Arthur Brooks left the group and were replaced by Fred Cash. Jerry Butler left the group to pursue a solo career.

Curtis Lee Mayfield was born on June 3, 1942 and died on December 26, 1999.
Samuel G. “Sam” Gooden was born on September 2, 1934.
Fred Cash was born on October 8, 1940.
