Tina Britt – The real thing

Singer and song writer Marion Brittingham (Tina Britt) was born in Smyma, Delaware, on July 5, 1938 and was raised in Florida and Philadelphia. She started singing as a teenager with a Church choir. OIn 1965 she was working in New York City and was introduced to Sue Records’ Juggy Murray. “The Real Thing” was her first single issued on Sue subsidiary label Eastern.

She found work as a background singer on Wilbert Harrison’s album “Let’s Work Together”. Her last recording was the album “Play it back”. By 1970 she ceased recording to bring up her children.

First released in the UK on London American HLC 9974 in 1965, this track had not been released on the UK Sue label before when Ensign released it on the EP ENS3 – Sue Soul Sisters in 1983.
