Singer and song writer Claudine Clark was born in Macon, Georgia on April 26, 1941. She moved to Philadelphia and began recording in 1958, backed by The Spinners. She then moved to New York searching for success which finally came when she joined Chancellor Records. Her only major success was “Party Lights”.

Singer, song writer, guitarist and pianist Barbara Lynn Ozen, now Mrs Barbara Lynn Cumby, was born in Beaumont, Texas on January 16, 1942. She sang in a church choir as a child. Her playing was influenced by Guitar Slim and Jimmy Reed. She formed an all girl band and they won several talent shows. She was then discovered by producer Huey P. Meaux. With the success of what became her signature song, she began touring extensively. Her song “Oh baby we’ve got a good thing going” was recorded by The Rolling Stones. She continued to record albums through to 2004. In 2018 Barbara Lynn was awarded a National Heritage Fellowship.
“You’ll lose a good thing”/”Lonely heartache” was her second recording and when it was issued on the Jamie label in 1962 it became a number one seller. It was recorded at Cosimo Matassa’s J&M studio with session musicians including Mac Rebennack (Dr. John).
