Dee Clark – Hey little girl

Soul singer and song writer Delectus (or Delecta) “Dee” Clark was born on Blytheville, Arkansas on November 7, 1938 He is mainly known for his biggest success, “Raindrops”. His first recording was in 1952 in a child act “The Hambone Kids”. He sang with some R&B groups before launching a solo career in 1957. His style was originally influenced by Clyde McPhatter and Little Richard, and he often deputised for the latter.

He never really recovered from a stroke he experienced in 1987, which left him with movement and speech problems. “Hey little girl” was released in the UK on Sue ILP 933 The Sue Story Volume 2.

Dee Clark died in Smyma, Georgia, on December 7, 1990 of a heart attack, after living in poverty in a motel in Toccoa, Georgia.
